My little kitten makes a funny but wierd gesture when he sees his food?
Every time after he eats, smells, or even goes by his food he makes two little scratches on the floor with his paw, then walks off. He likes the food he eats it and purrs, but the smell of it, taste of it or whatever makes him do that funny gesture every single time…and it doesnt mean he has to go to the bathroom becuase thats what I thought it meant but its not.
cats in the wild cover their prey to hide it (from other predators) so they can come back and eat it later.
It is a learned behavior and if the kit’s mom learned it from her mom then chances are she did that and the kit watched her and learned to cover their food. since they are domesticated now, they do not know why they cover their food but they will still carry on the behavior since it has been learned from their mother.

The kitten might have a mental disorder and need medicated.

I have no Idea what it means but it sounds adorable. Maybe he’s trying to like mark his territory or something, like, My food!
